Description:
The Lewiston Tribune, a family and employee-owned, 24,000-circulation newspaper, seeks an experienced journalist to cover government and cops and courts. The beat includes covering county and city government and public safety but also involves some feature writing and general assignment work.

Applicants should have professional experience in those coverage areas. We are located on the Washington/Idaho border, about two hours south of Spokane. Our region offers immediate access to a multitude of outdoor experiences including hiking, camping, white water sports, fishing and hunting. We have two universities and a four-year state school within our circulation area. Housing prices are reasonable, the weather is mild and the crime rate low. We offer an employee stock ownership program and a solid benefits package.

Vice President of Communications and Public Relations
Applications for Vice President of Communications and Public Relations are being taken until December 15, 2009.  The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and have more than five years experience in public relations, marketing, community development, communications, media relations, and event planning.
 
The Communication and Public Relations Vice President will specifically possess the ability to:
  • Develop and implement an annual strategic communications plan with measurable objectives and definable outcomes.
  • Provide counsel and insight at the most senior level in the organization to the President/CEO, senior staff, and Board of Directors.
  • Manage the implementation of several communication projects simultaneously, carrying out execution through internal resources or by contracting with professional support services.
  • Possess media relations expertise, and as needed, serve as agency spokesperson.
  • Possess a general knowledge of social marketing and website maintenance.
  • Be able to work as a team, build confidence and trust, and manage communication cross-organizationally.
  • Possess excellent writing skills, public speaking skills, internal and external communication skills, as well as being detail-oriented and highly organized.
 
The Communications and Public Relations Vice President will devise a strategy for raising broad community awareness of United Way by shaping favorable opinions, and will serve as a consultant to program and resource development staff on how communication can support successful advancement of their work.
 
United Way of Treasure Valley serves as a regional facilitator and problem solver around some of the Treasure Valley’s most pressing needs in the areas of Education, Income, and Health (please refer to www.unitedwaytv.org for more information).

Communication Director
The Idaho Democratic Party is accepting applications for the position of Communication Director.
