Chadd Cripe has been the editor of the Idaho Statesman in Boise since 2021. He joined the Statesman in 1996 as a copy desk intern and never left. He spent 20 years in sports, including 14 years as the Boise State football beat reporter and stints as the outdoors reporter, sports editor/columnist and assistant editor. He also co-authored a book, “Blue Magic,” chronicling the Boise State football program’s historic 2006 season.
Cripe was the Idaho Press Club’s Reporter of the Year for print in 2018 and won the Associated Press Sports Editors’ national beat writing award in his classification in 2013. He finished second in the APSE’s all-classification investigative reporting contest in 2018. Under his leadership, the Statesman won 69 Press Club first-place awards from 2022 through 2024.
The Washington State University graduate lives in Boise with his wife and son.
