COEUR D’ALENE PRESS

After five years, city reporter Tom Hasslinger has departed for the Garden Island newspaper on Kauai, where he’ll be city editor. New reporter Keith Cousins arrives from the chain’s weekly paper in Superior, Mont., the Mineral Independent.

IDAHO FALLS POST REGISTER

In January, Alex Stuckey, the Post Register’s former reporter covering Idaho National Laboratory, accepted a job at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She is based in Jefferson City, Mo., and covers the Missouri Legislature. Also leaving the Post Register is cops and courts reporter Ruth Brown, who will become a general assignment reporter for the Bakersfield Californian.

Aubrey Wieber, 24, is Portland, Ore., native and a University of Oregon journalism graduate, joins the Post Register as a general assignment reporter. . While in college he was sports editor for the university’s Emerald Media Group and after college he interned with The Oregonian covering prep sports.

Ali Tadayon, the new cops and courts reporter, graduated college in December with a bachelor’s of science in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. While there he interned at the Boulder Daily Camera and the Boulder Weekly. He also was the breaking news editor for the CU Boulder student e-paper, the CU Independent.

IDAHO PRESS-TRIBUNE

Vickie Holbrook ended her 34-year-carrer as a reporter and editor of the Idaho Press-Tribune to become the communications director for the city of Nampa.

Scott McIntosh, former managing editor of the Argus Observer in Ontario, joined Press-Tribune as editor on Feb. 12. As editor, McIntosh is responsible for day-to-day operations and news decisions for the daily newspaper and also oversees the weekly Meridian Press and Emmett Messenger Index. Previously, McIntosh was the owner and editor of the Kuna Melba News from 2006 to 2011; he holds bachelor’s degrees in newspaper journalism and English from Syracuse University and has won numerous journalism awards.

Christina Lords, former Statehouse reporter for the Idaho Falls Post Register, has accepted a position as a local editor at the Press-Tribune. Charlotte Wiemerslage, former local editor, departed to become the regional communications director for the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho.

MOSCOW-PULLMAN DAILY NEWS

Brandon Macz, Moscow/Latah County reporter, has taken a job with the weekly Bellevue (Wash.) Reporter after five years at the Daily News and Lewiston Tribune. Holly Bowen, business editor and editorial writer at the Moscow-Pullman Daily News, is leaving to move the Seattle area after five years in Moscow on the Idaho education beat and the Pullman/Whitman County beat.

Shanon Quinn, a recent University of Idaho journalism graduate and longtime Moscow resident, has been named news assistant at the Moscow-Pullman Daily News, replacing Patrick Groves who has returned to school for his final year at Washington State University’s Murrow School.

TWIN FALLS TIMES-NEWS

Jon Alexander has been named Editorial Writer/Community Engagement Editor. This is a new position at the newspaper, created to promote reader interaction in print and online through the Opinion pages. Alexander transferred to the Times-News from the Post-Star, a Lee Enterprises sister paper in Glens Falls, N.Y., where he was a reporter.

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Administrative correspondent Todd Dvorak left the AP’s Boise bureau to become the new communications director for the Idaho Attorney General’s office; he replaced Bob Cooper, who retired after 17 years with the office.

AP statehouse reporter John Miller left at the end of February after 10 years with the AP, to move to Switzerland with his family for a new adventure.

Katie Terhune, a former reporter for the Idaho Statesman, joined the AP Statehouse staff to cover the 2014 legislative session.

News director and longtime Idaho journalist Sadie Babits has departed to lead the newsroom at Colorado Public Radio in Denver.

670 KBOI Radio

Katelynn Bloom is the new Statehouse reporter, following the departure of former reporter Ray Amaya.

New reporter Luke Jones arrives from Houston, Texas and is a graduate of Boston University. Jamie Ostroff, weekend anchor/reporter, left in October to join WINK TV in Ft. Myers, Florida.

New arrivals include Nikki Kay, new morning producer, who came from Los Angeles; and Stephanie Mead, new weekend weather anchor, who arrives from Chicago. Jay Michaels, morning producer, left for another position; former weekend weather anchor Brandon Readman now works for the Jerome Chamber of Commerce.

New producer Jarrod Nielsen joins the staff; he previously was with KIVI.

New staffers include reporter Chris Oswald, who comes to Boise from Cincinnati; and new reporter Pattie McDonald. Departures include reporters Eric Fink and Tara Martin, and producer Jerrod Nielson.
